Geri Ventura has been with the Montecito Fire Protection District since 1993. Prior to working at Montecito Fire, Geri worked as a public safety dispatcher for the City of Oxnard Police and Fire Departments for over 4 years.
As Administrative Assistant for the Fire District, Geri is responsible for providing public information, records management, preparing and maintaining Board agendas, minutes, resolutions, ordinances and other public documents. She is responsible for overseeing the District's computer network, maintaining the District's website and Low Power Radio Station 1680AM, and fills in as District Dispatcher when necessary.
Geri also helps coordinate public education programs for the community, including the MERRAG/CERT program; overseeing membership, financial accounting and reporting, training and activation procedures. She has completed the Professional Development Series with the Emergency Management Institute (EMI), which provides a well-rounded set of fundamentals for those in the emergency management profession, as well as FEMA/EMI's CERT Train the Trainer Course. She is currently working on obtaining a degree in Communications and Emergency Management.
Within the Incident Command System at fire emergencies, Geri is qualified as Public Information Officer, Expanded Dispatch Recorder and Expanded Dispatch Support Dispatcher.
